About Me

Glynis Rennels, LCSW-BACS

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. I received my Bachelor of Science in 1993 from UL Lafayette with a major in psychology; and my Master of Social Work degree from Louisiana State University in 1996. I have served the Acadiana area for 25 years.

I’ve been a staff clinician, grant writer, community educator, case manager, grant manager, supervisor, program manager, department director, and administrator.

My main areas of focus are the treatment of trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, OCD, teen issues, behavioral problems in children, relationship problems, LGBTQ issues, parenting, family of origin issues, and substance abuse.

From the day I realized I wanted to be a Social Worker, I began seeking experiences that would ultimately lead me to my goal of becoming a therapist. While still a student, I entered the field as a mental health tech, working with hospitalized patients with psychiatric and addiction disorders. In the 25 years since then, I have acquired a diverse history of work experiences and skill sets through my work in the non-profit arena, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment, corrections, and community-based settings, in both clinical and administrative capacities. Through these various settings, I have had opportunities to work with diverse client groups including children, adolescents, adults, families, new parents and their babies, military service members and veterans, and individuals who experience chronic mental illness and addiction.

I truly believe that all these experiences - especially the most challenging ones - have both prepared me for and brought me to the important work I do at Hope Renewed Counseling.
